Pakistan’s Social Media Marketing Report – June-July 2015

June has shown increase in numbers in Pakistan’s Social Media Marketing sector. The average number of Facebook fans increased from 1,669,982 to 1,686,212. The number of fans increased from 92,581 to 95,850 for the top 20 Twitter brands and fans for the same category of brands on YouTube went up from 448 to 462.

Brands have improved in social care in June – the average post engagement rate stands at 0.29, and the average response rate is 58%.

In Pakistan, the top five positions for Facebook industries remain unchanged between May and June. Telecom companies registered an increase of almost 50,000 fans! The electronics industry comes second with an increase of 13,616 fans and the services industry is third with an increase of 6,724 fans. Retail food and beverages hold on to their positions from last month at number four and five, with an increase of almost 52,000 fans and 1,202 fans respectively.

In terms of number of local fans, the top five brands on Facebook also remain unchanged between May and June. OLX Pakistan leads the way but has just 91.8% local fans. Mobilink is second, having 93.6% local fans. Microsoft Lumia hold on to third place with 91.7% of local fans. Ufone has held on to fourth position with 91.5%. New entry CocaCola, has 99.9% local fans!

In local Facebook media pages, the top five ranking are unchanged from last month. Express News, with a 4 million persons fan base, comes in last with just 69.2% of local fans. Samaa TV is fourth with 77.6% local fans. PTV Sports comes third and ARY News second with 77.6% and72.3% local fans respectively. HUM TV, with the lowest number of total fans – 3.004 million has 77% local fans!

In social devotion, Zong has maintained its Facebook lead. Mobilink is close on its heels at number two. Ufone and Telenor maintain their third and fourth positions respectively, while Waird, makes an entry at number five.

For best engagement rate ranking, Ariel Pakistan displaced Tang at number five and Gillette Pakistan replaced Chester Bernard at number four. MilkPak Cream slipped to third place while Lifebuoy inched up to the second place, giving number 1 position to Shan foods.

Shan Foods also has the most popular post in June, with 513,038 interactions. Gillette has taken the second and third place in the same category, displacing Samsung and Jubilee Life Insurance Company.

On Twitter, the top five brands by number of followers remains the same as May. Mobilink, Warid, Telenor, Ufone and Zong have all held on their positions.

The fastest growing Pakistan brands on Twitter between May and June are led by Pepsi, Warid is second, Mobilink is the third, CocaCola is a new entry at number four and Telenor rounds off the list at number five.
