Solving the Instagram Algorithm
Instagram acts as an extension of Facebook, emphasizing the visual elements as well as the the algorithm. For most people visual content is reasonable to understand but when it comes to Instagram Algorithm, things get scary.
And if just seeing the word “algorithm” freaks you out, we get it.
What makes Algorithm so important?
From SEO to keywords, algorithms are often what determine who sees your content and who doesn’t.
So, we have established the fact that Algorithm decides the fate of your business.
On digital media especially on Instagram, simply posting content on regular basis with the right hashtags won’t necessarily guarantee you the desired reach.
Instead, you’ll need to consider how you can work with the algorithm to shake up your approach to Instagram marketing and to reach to your potential customers.
Instagram’s primary goal is to maximize the time users spend on your business platform. Because the longer users linger, the more ads they experience. So directly or indirectly, accounts that help Instagram achieve that goal are rewarded with more VISITORS & REACH.
How does the Instagram algorithm work?
Instagram algorithm decrees the ranks of the posts that users see when they’re scrolling through their news feed.
Based on specific signals, it prioritizes posts, pushing the most relevant ones towards the top and giving them top rank, while other content ends up being placed further down in the feeds.
While it’s important to note that the new algorithm is subject to change, but essentially there are two layers to the Instagram algorithm behind your news feed.
The first layer, according to Instagram, is more important than the second layer and consists of three factors:
- Interest
Instagram ranks the content that is like what you have viewed in the past. It uses your past interactions with posts and shows you relevant data in your news feed.
- Recency
Instagram looks at how recently a post was uploaded. Timeline in Instagram is very important.
- Relationship
Instagram prioritizes showing you posts from people you are close to by recording your past interaction with them online. It determines your relationships with people based on your interactions with them and the amount of time you spent on their profiles.
The second layer of the Instagram algorithm also has three factors:
- Frequency
It’s safe to save that if you have your recency game strong, your business can strategically focus on the frequency of the posts. Instagram prioritizes posts depending on the frequency.
- Following
Well this one is simple, the more people you follow, the more Instagram will show you posts from different people.
- Usage
The longer you spend on Instagram, the less relevant posts you will see. so, you need to be selective about who you’re reaching out to. Because Instagram is literally recording your every search history and click
