(We will cover Technical SEO in this topic only)
Technical SEO helps companies to improve the technical aspects of a website in order to increase the ranking of its pages in the search engines. It makes a website faster, easier to crawl and understandable for search engines for optimization. Unlike on-page SEO, it focuses on improving elements on your website to get higher rankings.
Why Technical SEO is important?
Google and other search engines want to present their users with the best possible results for their query. Therefore, Google’s robots crawl and evaluate web pages for best results. Websites are evaluated on various factors, some factors are based on the user’s experience, like how fast a page loads or how smooth the interface is. Other factors help search engine robots grasp what your page is about. So, by improving technical aspects of your SEO, you help search engines crawl and understand your site to match you with the best results. If you do this well, you will be placed better on google rankings.
The foundations of technical SEO:
- Crawlability
Crawlability decides a URL’s ability to be discovered by search engine bots. URLs that are not crawlable will still be reachable to users navigating your website directly, but because of compromised crawlability, these sites will not appear in search results.
- Indexability
After crawlability in the pyramid of technical SEO is indexability. Indexable URLs are URLs that a search engine can include in a catalog of pages that are available to be accessible in search results pages. When a URL has been crawled, various properties can prevent it from being added to the index.
- Accessibility
A URL that is both crawlable and indexable might still be inaccessible now when a search engine’s bots attempts to crawl it. Pages and sites that rank but that have persistent accessibility problems are often penalized in the search engine results, which proves that this part of the hierarchy is equally important.
- Rankability
Rankability is the first of the two top levels of the pyramid that deal with optimizations. Instead of forming the foundations of SEO, they are sometimes considered advanced technical SEO.
Hint: Use Links to Boost Rankability
- Clickability
The final level of technical SEO optimization concerns technical elements that make it more likely for a user to click on your results. Clickability is very important in technical SEO, it helps people to revisit your site.
Tip: Content structure, such as lists, tables, and headings, help search engines understand your content and facilitate dynamic creation of featured results, carousels and more.
