Google’s cookie-less future!
In 2020, Google announced to end third-party cookies within two years. Fast-forwarding to 2022, we are now closer to saying goodbye to third-party cookies and welcoming the all-new Topics API.
Why are third-party cookies being phased out? Industry specialists believe that the biggest challenge was the inability to track the right data followed by ad fraud.
Privacy Sandbox initiative was started to improve web security for users while providing publishers, creators, and other developers with the tools they need to build thriving businesses.
With Topics, your browser will determine topics such as “Lifestyle” or “Productivity” that represent your top interests for a certain week. This information will be based on your browsing history and topics will be kept for three weeks and the old ones will be deleted. Topics will pick three topics, one topic from each of the past three weeks, and will share that with the site and advertising partners.
