2nd Pakistan Banking Awards 2017
Bank Alfalah has been awarded “The Best Bank of the year 2017 Award” at an award ceremony organized by the Institute of Bankers Pakistan IBP, who are also the knowledge partners of AF Ferguson.
The award ceremony was held at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi on 19th Sept 2017. It was attended by representatives of the Banking sector, regulators, financial institutions, stakeholders and media personnel.
Bank Alfalah was declared The Best Bank of Pakistan for demonstrating the most significant contribution to national development and for the most effective management of its resources including its employees, clients, franchise, community, and financials.
Telenor Bank won ‘Best Microfinance Bank’ and “Bank the Unbanked” awards for the 2nd consecutive year.
Chief Executive Institute of Bankers Pakistan Hussain Lawai earlier said, “The Pakistan Banking Awards 2017 would serve as a platform to promote, recognize and acknowledge the contribution of the banking industry towards enhancing Pakistan’s economy.”
Jury for Pakistan Banking Awards 2017 comprises of Syed Salim Raza- former governor State Bank of Pakistan; Azhar Hamid, former Banking Mohtasib Pakistan & Former Country Head SCB Pakistan; Feroz Rizvi, President & CEO Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance; Dr Zeelaf Munir, MD & CEO English Biscuit Manufacturers and Shehzad Naqvi, former Regional Head of Citibank Middle East and Pakistan.

Best Bank for Corporate Finance & Capital Market Development: United Bank Limited
The bank that has excelled in promoting capital market development, deepening secondary markets, and providing advisory services to optimise the efficient use of industrial and commercial assets.
Best Customer Franchise: Bank Alfalah
The bank with the most efficient service delivery and attention to customer requirements.
Best Islamic Bank: Meezan Bank
The bank that has made the most progress in extending and expanding its Islamic Banking franchise and in raising public awareness.
Best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Bank: JS Bank
The bank with a main focus towards ESG attributes for conduct of responsible business. ESG attributes include respect for the environment, for society and for governance. In short, the bank that has demonstrated the most significant contribution in long term thinking on sustainability, environment, employees, customers and communities as Responsible Corporates.
Total 18 banks submitted their nominations in 8 award categories. These awards were given to banks for their performance during CY 2016.
